Birsa Munda – Life, Sacrifice, and National Significance

Introduction

Birsa Munda (1875–1900) was one of the prominent tribal leaders in India’s freedom struggle. He fought for the rights of the Munda tribal community living in Jharkhand and surrounding regions. His life and sacrifice continue to hold significance in discussions related to social justice and tribal rights.

Birsa Munda fought against land exploitation and social oppression during British rule.
He led the movement called “Ulgulan” (The Great Rebellion, 1899–1900).
