Key Features

Government and private employees:
15% of their salary or ₹10,000 (whichever is lower) must be given to parents.
Applicable to:
Government employees, private employees, MLA, MLC, local body representatives.

Implementation

An appointing authority system will be established.
Parents can file complaints.
The government will directly deduct from salary and transfer it to parents' accounts.

Central Law of India (2007)

Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007
Enacted: 2007 (UPA Government – Dr. Manmohan Singh)
Parents can file complaints in district-level tribunals.
Authority: Can order maintenance allowance.
Important: Courts have limited intervention.
This law applies across India and is broader than the Telangana law.
