• In 1940, Kamarajar went to Wardha and met Mahatma Gandhi.

• The award conferred on Kamarajar in 1976 – Bharat Ratna.

Elections & Political Growth

• In the 1952 Parliamentary elections, Kamarajar was elected from the Srivilliputhur constituency.
• Kamarajar’s political mentor – S. Satyamurti.
• Kamarajar’s political guru was Satyamurti. (Reiteration)

Freedom Struggle & Arrest

• Kamarajar was arrested under Section 74 of the Salt Act.
• He was released on March 12, 1931.
• In 1933, he was arrested by the British government in connection with a bomb explosion at the Srivilliputhur Police Station.

Imprisonment & Position

• In 1941, Kamarajar was elected Chairman of the Virudhunagar Municipality.
• At that time, he was lodged in Vellore Prison.

Tenure as Chief Minister

• Kamarajar served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for 9 years.

Social Welfare Schemes

• K. Kamarajar introduced the Midday Meal Scheme in Tamil Nadu.
• After Indian Independence, Kamarajar was the first to implement the Midday Meal Scheme in Tamil Nadu.
