1. Pallava Period (Pallavas)
- Important Ruler: Narasimhavarman I, known as "Vatapikonda". The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during his reign.
- Administration: Nandivarman I introduced early Brahmadeya settlements in Tondaimandalam. Land was measured using units such as Er, Nivarthanam, and Pattigai methods.
- Inscriptions: Pallava copper plates mention the Digambara Jain tradition. The Tiruchirappalli inscription explains village administration.
- Art: The article on South Indian paintings is Dakshinachitra. The monuments of Mamallapuram (Arjuna’s Penance, Five Rathas, Shore Temple) are world famous.

2. Chola Period (Cholas)
