1. Fundamental Duties - Key Features
- Fundamental Duties apply only to Indian citizens.
- They are based on moral and civic obligations.
- They serve as a source of inspiration to citizens and as a warning to anti-national elements.
- Fundamental Duties are enforceable through law.
- Verma Committee: Submitted a report in 1999 regarding Fundamental Duties of citizens.
2. 11th Fundamental Duty (86th Amendment)
Article 51A(k): As per the 86th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2002, it is the duty of parents or guardians to provide opportunities for education to children between 6 and 14 years of age.
3. List of Important Duties
- Article 51A(a): To respect the National Flag and the National Anthem.
- Article 51A(c): To uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India.
